Absolute best place to buy a washer (no dryer)?

Looking for a solo washer & going with a comparison between the 'usual suspects', i.e. Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, Sears & Roebuck*, etc.

I'm also thinking CraigsList & possibly a used resale store somewhere as well.

If anyone knows of a quality unit, this purchase could be anywhere from South Austin all the way to San Antonio. Moving this isn't an issue as I have a more than large enough truck & also a good hand truck (the kind with a strap built on that secures it to the dolly).

Oh, & there's just something I can't put my finger on that makes me want to NOT go to Conn's.

So, whatcha got for me, Shaggy?

Sear's Outlet in San Antonio. The drawback is where it is. The plus is a large selection of units still in some kind of warranty phase.

I'm a fan of the Sears Outlet. I've bought lots of appliances there. If you take your time and check out each of them you can find one that's pretty much flawless for a big discount.

About Giant... the website is particularly unhelpful. You would want to check out that place in person.

Yup, their website sucks. Their scratch and dent and refurbished stuff does not suck.

Kitchenaid.

BUT, with all front loaders, leave the door open so the water can evaporate. If you don't, stank ass mildew is in your future. You will be pissed.

I would imagine scratches and dents don't make a $#@!. This isn't going on your front porch.

I've had horrible luck with kitchenaide. They should keep their ass in the kitchen, making blenders and $#@!.

Now that you mention it, I did look at the Kitchenaid website and they no longer make washers. My bad. My mixer kicks ass. My Dad has a Kitchenaid washer and it is great.

We have Kenmores now. They were used for 4 years in Houston, sat in our basement for 3 in Alaska and have been used a lot here in Washington for 2 years. Outside of having to replace a part that broke because I overloaded it (and it was an easy fix that cost me $20 or so for the part), they've worked great and have now lasted through 6+ years of 5+ loads a week with that 3 year sit still.

Well, somebody let the cat out of the bag in chat last night, so I know what's going on. It's sunk in just how incredibly amazing what you all have put together is, and well... I need to make this post, but I'm not sure exactly how to word it...

First, you have no idea how grateful, and thankful I truly am. This takes the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me, and blows it out of the water. To have this many people chip in to do something this incredibly nice for me has left me feeling so blessed. It takes a lot for me to cry... in fact I'm almost immune to it... but I think about that and I really start to.

Second, going through what I did... having there been a time in my life when I needed help with anything and everything, then getting to where I could then do things on my own... has always made a little piece of me feel awkward inside when it comes to accepting darn near anything. Call it my dumb pride I guess... I hope that doesn't sound bad or come across wrong.

I guess that's why I've laid awake in bed tonight thinking, crying, and wondering if this is something I truly deserve... I guess I just need to take a second before this goes really any further and ask: Are you all sure this is something you really want to do... for me?

Like I said, I hope you don't take me asking that the wrong way... I just don't know what to say... this feels so huge to me.

I could post "thank you" on every post I ever make on Shaggybevo ever again and I still don't think it'd be enough to really convey just how much I really am.
