a charge for $69.99 appeared as a transaction on my credit card statement from TLG*BUYERSADV#89125514(Other).
i called my bank (Chase) and she called the company and we had a 3 person telephone conversation.
they claim that they sent me a check for $9.25 on August 15th of 2007. they claim i cashed this check and by signing and cashing that check, it automatically enrolled myself into their services, of which they bill me $69.99 every 5 months.
the first time i noticed this charge was from march of this year and i disputed that charge and was given my money back. i was not made aware of any enrollment i have allegedly signed up for. i learned all of this information today while disputing the most recent transaction.
i will be credited my $69.99 back, but i have to wait 2 - 3 weeks for them to send me verification of my enrollment in the mail before i can either dispute any previous charges or cancel my enrollment.
i asked them to fax it to me and was told it wouldn't be any quicker because they have to go to their storage, find the microfilm with my verification signature and that's what takes the bulk of the time. so evidently they do not keep electronic files.
i asked twice as to what services they provide me and she skirted the question both times. i asked her why i would even sign up for this in the first place and she said, "i don't know" and then immediately began to explain as to why she said that. i asked her why i would allegedly cash a random $9.25 check and she said that was not her problem to deal with.
i know tl:dr, but has anyone else heard of this before? does anybody have any advice? i google searched the company and it brings up pages of links of complaints.
